This is an injector type razor made by the Schick Razor Company. This razor is one of the Schick models from the Schick "FASHION RAZOR" line. I don't know exactly when this razor was made, but most cartainly, and since it is an injector type razor, during the 1920's to sometime during the 1930's. Because of this razors compact size this razor is a perfect travel razor. One of the uses for this model razor was advertised as a ladies razor. It measures 1 - 3/4 (inches) square, by 3/4" (inch) thickness. Just toss it in a small toilet article case and away you go, or it takes up very little space in a drawer. These old vintage injector razors were so well made they were made to last, and last they have. This Schick razor uses the exacty same blades as any Schick injector razor. There are several companies that today, still make injector blades. This injector razor will provide a very economical alternative shaving method compared to the cost of present day safety razors and blades. Just Google "injector blades" and you will find many sources for Schick, Persona and other brand injector blades. Many drug stores and Walmart type stores also sell the blades. This particular Schick razor is unique in that not many of this particular model is around anymore, try to find one. This razor comes with a recently purchased new Schick Injector with 7 blades.

This is a Shick Type C-1 repeating injector razor. This type of razor was made from 1933 until 1941. It is the C-1 version, because of its "Open Comb Guard", and it is gold plated. There were three versions of the C razors made, the C-1 Open Comb Guard, the C-2 Closed Comb Guard, and the C-3 Bar Guard. It was named "Simplified" by Schick, because of its very simple operation of loading blades which was much easier than loading blades in the type A, B AND C razors. With this C-1 version the cover (cap) is pulled off. This exposes the razor's folding head. This head is turned to the upright position for shaving.

At the opposite end of the head is the handle. In the handle is what is called the magazine. One cool feature of these Schick repeating razors is the way the blades work. They're stored in the handle, and you work a mechanism much like loading a rifle to eject the old blade and replace with a new blade. At the end of the handle is little rectangular end piece. It is attached to but separate from the handle. When you pull and push this end piece a new blade is pushed into the head while at the same time ejecting the old blade. Something else to be aware of is that in order for blades to be ejected from the clip into the head of the razor the head must be perfectly lined up with the blade being ejected into the head. If resistance occurs when ejecting a blade into the head be sure the head is lined up by applying pressure on the head into the closed position.

A second rectangular end piece can be swiveled to the side and the blade holder, (clip) can be removed to have new blades stacked in it. Of particular note is that the way this mechanism works is that this clip cannot be removed from the handle until all the blades have been ejected from this clip. When fully loaded this clip holds 20 blades.

For a neat demonstration of how repeating razors work please use this link; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgZeC6D5HYo

Because of its compact size this razor is a perfect travel razor. It measures 4 1/2" long by 1/2" square. Just toss it in a small toilet article case and away you go. This particular razor is in excellent aesthetic condition and perfect mechanical condition. All the "C" versions of the Schick repeating razor are gold plated with a filigree design.

This razor comes with blade loading instructions. Once all the blades have been used and ejected, the clip can be removed and reloaded with new injector blades. This razor uses the exact same "INJECTOR" blades that are manufactured and being sold in stores for the many different styles of schick injector and other brands of safety razors that use this exact same blade. These old vintage injector razors were so well made, they were made to last, and last, they have. There are plenty of the different types of old injector razors still available and in use today, as can be attested to by the several companies that today, still make just the blades. This injector razor will provide a very economical alternative shaving method compared to the cost of present day safety razors. These injector blades sell for less than $1.00 per blade. Just Google "injector blades" and you will find many sources for Schick, Persona, and other brands of injector blades. Many drug stores and Walmart type stores also sell these blades.

CAUTION: With any Type C Repeating razor, be careful in placing the cap on the bottom part of the razor. The cap and bottom appear to be square, and was even sometimes called square razor by the Schick Company, but in fact all Type C's are slightly rectangular and you can't see this difference with your naked eye. While it appears, there are four positions that the cap can be placed on the bottom, there are only two. Placing it on in either of the two non fitting positions can damage the cap. You will easily and quickly determine which is the safest way to place the cap onto the bottom piece. So, don't force it, it goes on very easily when lined up correctly.

Swaty Hone (BEST BARBER TYPE HONE ~ FLAWLESS HONE)

This is a Swaty hone. Swaty's were made in Germany and, were and still are thought of as the ultimate, straight razor, barber type hones. Swaty's are quite rare and in demand. This particular Swaty is called a 3-line Swaty, because of the 3 lines printed on the end of the stone. This hone is in flawless superb condition. There are no chips, cracks, dings, etc., it has sharp corners and edges on all 8 corners, and on all 8 edges. This Swaty hone measures 5 1/8" long by 2" wide by 1/2" thick. It is recommended that barber hones, such as this hone, be used dry, with water or lather. Oil can be used, but is not recommended because oil penetrates into the stone and stays in the stone, and thereafter does not mix well with water or lather. If oil is used it is best to always use oil. The use of a barber hone such as this one is a honing method that constantly maintains a razor's sharpness by keeping a razor sharp all the time, instead of waiting for a razor to become dull and thus requiring a complete honing. With this method you simply hone 5 to 8 strokes on each side of the razor blade about every 2 to 3 shaves. The use of a barber hone is easily held in one hand while honing with the other. This mnethod and use of barber hones is what was used in the straight razor era to maintain a razor's edge when today's fast cutting stones were not available. Quick, easy and simple. While Swaty's are still available, it is very hard to find a Swaty hone in this superb condition. This hone comes with copies of original Swaty papers of authenticity.

This is a Belgian "yellow coticule" sharpening stone.

Some information and brief history:
There are two types of Belgian sharpening stones, the newly discovered "Belgian Blue" which is equivalent to 4000 to 6000 grit, and the better, finer grit finishing stone, the famously well known "Yellow Coticule" which is 8000 to 10000 grit. Reputed by some to be the best finishing hone. The yellow sharpening stone, "Ardennes Coticule", is available only in thin layers, and therefore is usually glued to a slate base, as this one is. It is sometimes odd-shaped to make use of all the pieces mined from the quarry. Proposed by many, there has never been a better sharpening stone. You will own it for life. The extraction and production of the coticule in the Belgian Ardennes dates back to the 17th century. It is a sedimentary rock formed over 480 million years, consisting of grey-yellowish volcanic ash and clay containing hard garnet crystals. The coticules are rooted in history and were recorded by Pliny the Younger when the Roman army stopped there for stones on the way to taking London for the tin mines in the Bronze Age. The coticule has been the choice of barbers for hundreds of years for honing straight razors. Natural coticule stones are not as abundant as they once were, but a single quarry is still in operation in Belgium today, hand producing these natural sharpening stones. The only honing lubricant used on coticules is water. A slurry method can be used, or not, depending on one's preference. Without a slurry water is still used to puddle on top of the surface. A dry or oiled surface is not to be used on coticule stones. This coticule stone is in superb chip and blemish free condition. Its honing surface has been lapped to insure perfect flatness. This coticule measures 6" long by 1-1/8" wide by 3/4" thick.

This is a completely restored adjustable paddle strop in like new condition. This strop was made by Henry Sears & Son dated on the box is 1865. This entire strop has been completely refinished and the leather portion has been fitted with a brand new piece of premium grade, top quality leather. This leather is two sided with each side having a flat working surface of 7 1/2" long and a total length of 13 1/4" from tip to tip. It is 1 - 3/4" wide by 1/8" thick. I have treated this leather first, with neatsfoot oil which preserves, softens, and makes the leather more pliable and second, treated the surface with "Fromm's Strop Dressing" which further conditions the leather for stropping and provides a necessary slight drag on the blade when stropping. This "adjustable strop" is adjusted, and tension is created by turning the handle which increases the tightness of the leather to the desired amount. The compact size of this paddle strop makes it ideal for travel, just carry it in a small overnight case, large suitcase, or camping knapsack, etc. This strop comes with its original case that has been restored to a sound and usable condition.

This is a Dovo hanging strop that was made in Solingen, Germany. It is marked PRIMA RINDLETER. It is in excellent condition. It is very pliable, even surfaced, with no dings, cracks, cuts or age deterioration, etc. This strop measures 18" tip to tip by 1 3/4 wide and is 3/16" wide. It is a desirable size for traveling as it fits well in a suitcase, etc.

This strop will last a lifetime if taken care of. It has had the necessary amount of neatsfoot oil applied to it to preserve and maintain its pliability. It also has an application of Fromm's Strop Dressing applied to its surface. It is suggested to keep strop dressing on the strop surface. A 4 oz. bottle of strop dressing will last a lifetime. It will provide the necessary drag (very light resistance when stropping).

https://www.amazon.com/Fromm-364-Strop-Dressing-4oz/dp/B001DYHMK8

Just spread about 5 or 6 drops on the strop's surface and rub it in with the base of your palm when the surface loses its drag, about every 6 months. This will preserve and condition your strop and keep it stropping the cutting edge of your razor from shave to shave.

This strop has the attached separate woven linen strop as well. It is recommended to not use the linen side until you have become experienced at shaving and stropping, Then, if your curiousness gets the best of you, you will have some experience to guide you.

To prevent memory bends, this strop will be well packaged laying straight out lengthwise in carton box.

This is a Bartmann straight razor that was made in Solingen, Germany. It is in unused defect and blemish free, flawless condition. It looks like it did the day it walked out of the factory. I can find no history of Bartmann razors, but in searching I found many, many forum members that say Bartmann razors provide as good a shave as any straight razor. Having shaved with them I agree. This razors blade size is 5/8 wide, is made of carbon steel with a hollow grind and very lustrous mirror finished and etched blade faces. The blade opens and closes snug and smooth on the pivot pin and well centered between the scales. These scales are the celluloid faux tortice shell design and are slick looking. This is a very high quality razor that will last more than a lifetime for a young man. Recently honed and stropped to provide a smooth, close and comfortable shave, this razor is guaranteed to come shave ready.
