This is a H. Botte straight razor. The name of a Belgium city "Gand" is written on the tang. The history of Botte razors is some fuzzy, as are many straight razors. It is known that this razor marked "H. BOTTE GAND" represents the city of Gand in Belgium. Whether it was made in Belgium or made in Germany for a seller in Belgium is unknown. What is known is that this razor is in excellent, defect free condition. The blade is a desirable 31/32 almost an inch wide. Lack of hone wear indicates no previous usage. Mechanically this blade opens and closes with a nice constant and even snugness and is well centered between the scales. This blade is hollow ground, is made of carbon steel. The badly aged original horn scales have replaced with exotic Bacote wood scales. Recently honed and stropped to provide a smooth, close and comfortable shave this razor comes guaranteed shave ready.
