This is a Gustav Felix straight razor that was made in Solingen, Germany. Felix straight razors of Gloriawerks founded in Solingen Germany is one of the very long time standing cutlery companies in Germany. According to Carter's "German Knife and Sword Makers", Gustav Felix started making knives as a hobby in 1810. In 1843 he established a metalworking business, initially registered with the Wuppertal district court. In 1882 it was registered in Solingen. The Gloriawerk name was registered in 1909. The company was still in business in 2009 and still owned by the Felix family. Not very well known today, but by any measure Felix razors are of the same or better quality as any razor ever made. Showing light hone wear this razor is in excellent condition. The blade is a 5/8 wide, is made of carbon steel with a hollow grind. and has very lustrous mirror finished blade faces. This razor's blade carries it's factory original dark wood burl designed celluloid scales. They are in excellent condition. This razor will make a nice daily shaving companion. It has been recently honed to provide a smooth, close and comfortable shave and it comes guaranteed shave ready.
