This is a Schick Type A, magazine repeating razor and was made by the Schick Magazine Repeating Razor Company in New York between 1926 and 1927. This type of razor, an "A" is erxtremely rare and seldom found in this fine condition. This razor has been cleaned and polished inside and outside. The mechanism has been gone over and lightly oiled. This style of Schick repeating razor was the very first type of Schick "INJECTOR" Razor manufactured. This razor is round shaped as opposed to the follow-up models, the B & C types that are square shaped repeating versions. This A type version is the rarest version. The Schick company was started by Col. Jacob Schick and was the predecessor to the modern "Schick" Company. The Patent Number on this razor is 5-18-26. This razor is in perfect condition and it works flawlessly. The inside and outside shell of this razor is metal alloy that resembles silver and the blade head is gold plated. The vented cap, which covers the folding head just simply pulls off to expose the razor head. The head can then be swiveled into the shaving position. The bottom piece unscrews to expose and gain entry to remove the clip and spring to reload the clip with new injector blades. This bottom piece also pulls down, without unscrewing to work the repeating action to eject the old blade while at the same time injecting a new blade. For a neat demonstration of how this razor works, please use this link; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgZeC6D5HYo This razor is depicted at the beginning of this demo and in this demo it is called, as it was sometimes called, the "version one" razor. One cool feature of these early Schick razors is the way the blades work. They're stored in the handle, and you work a mechanism in the handle, likened to loading a rifle to eject and replace the blade. This razor has been completely gone over mechanically, and 20 "test" blades have been run through it to insure proper working condition. I have purchased a factory loaded new clip with 20 brand new NOS blades and I have loaded this clip into the handle and I injected one blade into the head. These vintage NOS blades are the same exact size as the injector blades being manufactured today by several different quality blade makers. Once you have used up the blades that are now loaded into the razor don't throw away this clip as it can be re-loaded with any quantity up to 20 schick injector blades and re-inserted into the razor, over and over again. Included with this razor is a copy of the original instructions with words and pictures showing exactly how to install the clip. Also, I have included in the separate little brass tube an extra blade holder and a blade holder clip, (you really do not need the clip, but is supplied for your choice). There are many companies that, still make just the blades. These injector blades sell for less than $1.00 per blade. Just Google "injector blades" and you will find many sources for Schick, Persona and other brand injector blades. Many drug stores and Walmart type stores also sell the blades. This injector razor will provide a very economical alternative shaving method compared to the cost of present day safety razors and blades. Because of this razors compact size this razor is a perfect travel razor. It measures 4 1/2" long by 5/8" diameter. Just toss it in a small toilet article case and away you go. This razor comes with it's original box. This box is in usable condition, the bottom is solid, but the box top has been taped and so the box is best used for storage or display purposes, and not daily use.
