This is a C.V. Heljestrand No. 2 model straight razor that was made in Eskilstuna, Sweden. Starting in the 1800's and continuing well into the 20th century Heljestrand razors are known as being as well made a razor as ever made and beter than many. The Heljestrand factory was founded in 1808 and closed in 1980. This razor shows no previous hone wear which indicates no previous usage. It is in superb condition. Heljestrand razors are of the highest quality in steel composition, design and manufacturing standards. This creates one of today's most sought after straight razors. This particular Heljestrand has a 4/8 wide blade,is made of carbon steel and has a hollow grind. This blade is adorned with beatufully colored MOP (mother of pearl) scales. MOP is one of the VERY most beautiful scale materials, and along with maybe, sterling silverand is about the most expensive. It's beauty includes that it gives off (reflects) very beautiful multi colors from it's lustrous surface. MOP is rarely used for razor scales because it is a very expensive material. This surface brilliance shows up to some degree in the attached photos. They are in like new condition.
