This is a Red Point straight razor that was made in Solingen, Germany. The city of Solingen was known as "The City Of Blades" because of the many companies that set up shop making blades of all sorts of blades. It was in this city that Anton Wingen Jr. set up shop in 1888 to make swords and knives. He later made straight razors and he He named them Red Points. Anton wingen continuously and smartly expanded the machinery in his plant and created one of the most state-of-the-art factories in Solingen at the time. Under Anton Wigen ther company revolutionised the forging process and developed injection moulding techniques, which the company successfully applied to the manufacture of all types of kitchen utensils. After the death of Anton Wingen in 1935, his son Hans Wingen and Walter Wingen took over the business and successfully continued it's ooperations.
Red points were designed and manufactured to stunning styles and these razors are well known and highly thought of.This particular razor is the famous 917 model. It is in superb condition with the only blemish being an inconsequential surface cleft on the reverse side of the scales near the center pin. Based on very little hone wear this razor shoes almost no previous usage. The blade is 5/8 wide, is made of carbon steel with a hollow grind. Thois blade carries it's factory original, 3-pin, celluloid scales that ha silver bolsterted ends and embossed with the Red Point emblem. This razor was recently honed to provide a smooth, close and comfortable shave, and it comes guaranteed to be shave ready.
